With the ever changing weather nowadays, don't be surprised if you see the sun shining so bright, then suddenly it rains as if there's a storm. A downpour of rain is making its grand entrance and everybody is at awe looking at how great its impact. While we know so much about its impact, experts believe that what causes heavy rain is mostly human-caused global warming. As much as we know that rain is a natural phenomenon, do you agree that humans play a big role in what causes heavy rain?
We all know that heavy rain causes flash floods, and flooding increases risk in every aspect of life. Flooding causes a lot of hassles, not just for humans, but it even affects the economy as a whole. Individually, we suffer different kinds of hassles during heavy rain, from transportation issues to major health concerns. It's really tough to be on time with our appointments when the roads are wet, since it can cause a lot of accidents. Private and public utility vehicles are being stuck due to flooding. Everyone is panicking that sometimes because of stress and anger, we tend to fight just to get to our work on time. Everyone is soaked so wet that we forget about acquiring flood-borne diseases. A lot of possible viral infections can get caught during heavy rain and flooding, which can lead to complications and more serious problems. By being sick, we become unproductive, which makes our income not enough to make ends meet. As for our workplace and some establishments, somehow it's hard for them to function due to the inconvenience of weather conditions making the situation worse. These are some of the things we experience in urban areas. In rural areas, those who are living in the countryside also experience worse. Farming of different vegetation is affected by soil erosion due to flooding, making it hard for the farmers to save their crops. Those who are in the poultry industry also suffer from shelter damage and loss of domestic poultry due to flooding. Animals can also get from viral diseases just like humans. The Landslide prone areas are very hard to pass by to avoid accidents. Definitely, the whole country and economy could be affected because of this phenomenon.
With all of these things happening, why are we still doing things that could end up worse?
Humans as we are, we tend to ignore our irresponsible acts of littering garbage everywhere. Canals can be clogged due to trash which traps our drainage system, causing it to flood. We even participate in the exploitation of our natural resources and destroying them. Illegal logging and deforestation, which are also believed to be one of the worst activities that cause flooding. The non-stop sand and gravel extraction which can cause erosion also leads to flooding and polluted rivers. What makes it worse is that even though we are aware of its adverse effects, we still keep on doing it again and again without hesitation.
Heavy rain is a blessing when we are responsible for our acts. We should act accordingly to what is the purpose of human existence before its too late. God has given us the things we need. Please let us all enjoy it without destroying it.
